5 Peaks Run Canmore

Jun 16, 2017

With trail running races across Canada, 5 Peaks delivers some of the best trails this country has to offer. Our events are hosted at some of the most spectacular natural spaces in the country. Each race takes place on pre-marked natural surface trails with participants running over rocks, roots, tree stumps and logs, through mud puddles, snow and so much more.
Taking approximately 400 – 800 participants per race over some of the country’s most spectacular terrain, all competitors gain a new appreciation for the ease and beauty of enjoying their Region’s backcountry. The series is open to novice through expert athletes with winners in different age categories receiving points & prizing. Following true to 5 Peaks tag line, people are increasingly motivated to GET OFF THE ROAD and onto the trails.
Each event consists of a free Children’s Challenge (50m – 1km), a Kidspeaks Timed Kids Challenge (about 3k), a Sport (5-8 km) entry-level course, and an Enduro (10-15 km) intermediate to advanced course. Certain races will also have a half marathon distance.

The Canmore Nordic Centre will be hosting two races this year. The first race will be hosted on June 10/17 and will feature four races: Sports Course 7km loop, Enduro Course 15.5km loop, Timed Kids Race 3km race and Children’s Challenge 1km. Canmore Folk Music Festival

Aug 5, 2017 — Aug 7, 2017

The Canmore Folk Music Festival is the longest running folk music festival in Alberta and one of its finest. Adhering to a philosophy and legacy of folk, world, blues and roots music, the festival since 1978 has attracted up to 21,000 music fans annually from across southern Alberta, western Canada, the northwestern USA and indeed the world. Taking place over three days of the Heritage Day long weekend in August, the festival features 18 individual acts or performers, an alcohol-free, family-friendly site, a free children’s concert on the Saturday afternoon, a free downtown street dance on the Friday evening and a kids’ area jammed with crafts, puppets, theater, bouncy castle and climbing wall. Its venue is the downtown Centennial Park in the heart of Canmore’s valley bottom. Surrounded on all sides by the majestic Rocky Mountains, the backdrop of breathtaking scenery merely enhances the incredible music pouring forth from three stages all weekend long. Each evening the main stage concert features six hours and six performances highlighting the best of what each has to offer. Our audiences are renowned for their respectful listening, allowing every patron to enjoy the music and every performer to enjoy the rapt attention directed their way. We also have a pub venue within short walking distance.
